  • Stainless and mild steel — 304, 316L stainless and A36/A572 structural steel plate
  • Complex geometry cuts — curved profiles, internal cutouts, slots, and tight-radius features that shearing can't do

Waterjet Cutting FAQ

What can the Flow waterjet cut?

Our Flow 4×12-foot waterjet cuts aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, brass, copper, titanium, stone, glass, and rubber — up to 7 inches thick in steel. No heat-affected zone (HAZ), so critical for marine aluminum that must retain its temper after cutting.

What file formats do you accept?

We accept DXF, DWG, and PDF drawings. We can also work from physical templates — we scan the template and convert to a CAD file for waterjet cutting. Complex 3D hull panel shapes can be profiled from our 3D scan data.

What is the typical turnaround for waterjet cutting?

Most waterjet-only jobs (cutting from provided drawings) turn around in 1–3 days depending on shop workload. Full fabrication projects with nesting, cutting, and finishing take 5–10 days.

Do you do nesting for production cutting?

Yes. We nest multiple parts for efficient material utilization. For production runs, we optimize nest efficiency to reduce material waste and cutting time. CAD/CAM programming is included in our waterjet cutting quotes.
