Heavy-duty aluminum rack for commercial use
Project Overview
A custom-designed and fabricated heavy-duty aluminum roof rack for a commercial work truck. This project highlights DolFab's versatility — the same precision fabrication skills used on superyachts, applied to an everyday utility vehicle.
The Challenge
Work truck roof racks carry heavy loads over rough roads at highway speeds. The rack had to support significant weight without flexing, distribute loads evenly to the truck's roof mounts, and be designed for quick loading and unloading of materials and equipment.
The Solution
DolFab designed a tubular aluminum rack with cross-members spaced for the customer's specific load profile. All joints are TIG-welded (no bolted connections to loosen over time). Mounting feet distribute load across the truck's rain gutters with rubber isolation to prevent corrosion. The rack has been in daily commercial use carrying pipe, lumber, and equipment with zero issues.
