What We Do

Superyacht fuel tanks are not a catalog item. Every vessel has a different bilge geometry, different fuel capacity requirements, and different access constraints. We build tanks to fit the vessel — not the other way around. We've fabricated fuel systems for vessels from 40 feet to over 200 feet, in aluminum and stainless, for diesel and gasoline service.

  • Custom aluminum fuel tank fabrication — marine-grade 5086 or 5052 aluminum, any size or shape, baffled to ABYC standards
  • Stainless steel tank fabrication — 316L stainless for installations where aluminum is unsuitable or aesthetic requirements demand it
  • Integral baffle systems — baffling to ABYC H-33 requirements preventing fuel surge and maintaining structural integrity
  • Pressure testing — every tank pressure-tested before leaving the shop; test certificate provided
  • Tank inspection & assessment — non-destructive evaluation of existing tanks: visual, ultrasound thickness measurement, internal inspection
  • Tank repair & weld repair — isolated weld repairs on serviceable tanks: seam repairs, fitting replacements, crack repair
  • Full tank replacement — remove existing tanks, template new builds to the same or upgraded configuration, install and commission
  • Diesel day tanks & transfer systems — day tanks, header tanks, and multi-tank manifold systems for complex superyacht fuel arrangements

Why DolFab for Superyacht Fuel Tanks

Pressure-Vessel Qualified Welders
Our welders hold pressure-vessel qualifications — the same standard required for tanks, hydraulic manifolds, and high-pressure systems. Every seam is inspected in process, not just at final test.
Exactly-to-Fit Fabrication
We template the bilge space before cutting a single piece of metal. Tank geometry, fitting positions, access panel locations, and mounting provisions are all designed around your vessel — not a catalog drawing.
USCG / ABYC Compliance
Tanks built to ABYC H-33 and applicable USCG standards. Documentation package for surveyors and insurance underwriters included with every new-build tank.
Full In-House Capability
CNC waterjet cutting for precision plate work, press brake for forming flanges and mounting provisions, TIG welding for all seams — nothing subcontracted.

Aluminum vs. Stainless: Which Tank for Your Vessel?

The right material depends on the vessel's construction, fuel type, and service environment. Here's how to think about it.

Aluminum — The Default for Most Superyachts
Best for aluminum-hulled superyachts — eliminates galvanic corrosion risk
Lower weight — significant at fuel capacities of 5,000–50,000+ gallons
ABYC-preferred material for gasoline service tanks
Alloys: 5086 (marine structural) or 5052 (forming-intensive shapes)
Stainless — When Specified or Required
For steel-hulled superyachts — avoids galvanic pairing with aluminum tanks
Better for visible engine room installations where aesthetics matter
Day tanks and header tanks where easy inspection is required
Grade: 316L marine stainless — more corrosion-resistant than 304 in marine environments
